Building the bridge to our bright future.
When people ask me why I’m running for school board, I say its simple, “I believe trusted leadership that inspires our community to come together is what this moment calls for. And it’s time to build our bridge across Sausalito and Marin City. One post at a time.”
Coming together and overcoming division isn’t new to me. Raised in Canada in a multi-cultural home, I quickly had to learn English at age eight when our family immigrated to America. My father father grew up in Pakistan during intense regional divisions. My mother, was raised in an orphanage in Switzerland during WWII. Watching them overcome financial hardships and racial discrimination, taught me my most valuable lesson in life: that anything is possible. I believe education and compassion are doors to unlock the greatness in all children. And all communities.
As a very active 94965 mom the past 15 years across Sausalito and Marin City, my family of four - Aussie husband David and our two children Finnegan and Delphine - have built trusted relationships serving both schools, tutoring at Bridge the Gap College Prep, coaching softball and baseball and much more. I spoke out about the good at both Bayside MLK and WCA at school board meetings, often when it was not politically correct. This opens doors and builds. And trust matters when building bridges.
Just like my parents showed me, anything is possible. I believe the unique strength of our diverse community is our greatest asset. When we truly come together we can be a beacon of light not only for our strong community and students but across our great nation. Thank you for being part of a positive movement. I hope you too will be a UnityMaker by joining us at Yas4Unity!
